In her work with the United Way, Vivian was part of the effort that provided hundreds of meals to local families during the pandemic. As disturbing as it is to learn that we have Hunger here in our district, that is the reality, and Vivian has worked with the United Way, and other organizations to address this and other inequities in our neighborhoods.

As Corporator for Emerson Hospital, Vivian worked with local caregivers in the perinatal unit. Her work provided assistance with the cultural understanding between patient and caregiver, an important element toward improving outcomes.

In her role of Producer for Acton Community Television, Vivian has listened to small business owners, high school students and local leaders. In this position, as in her other community work, Vivian continues to turn her energies to solving problems; during COVID-19 she helped High School students produce a video for younger children that spoke to their shared experiences in the pandemic. 

Because she saw inequities in our Healthcare system, Vivian created a television series discussing the issue titled; ‘Health Care Blind Spots’.

Vivan’s beautiful daughters attend the Acton public schools and Vivian is one of the many parents who has a new appreciation for public school teachers. As we emerge from the pandemic, Vivian has reached out to learn what is needed for teachers to better thrive in our public schools, as she thoroughly understands that professionally trained, fairly compensated teachers are key to improving our classroom environments.
